The Podcast Launch Checklist for Cyprus Businesses

Every step from idea to published episode, in the order that saves you from the classic mistakes: buying gear before strategy, launching with one episode, and quitting at episode seven. Print it, pin it, and tick the boxes as you go.

1. Strategy before gear

Most podcasts die by episode 7 because this phase was skipped.

  • Write one sentence: who is this podcast for, and what do they get from each episode?
  • Decide the business goal: leads, authority, recruiting, or client relationships
  • Pick your language: Greek, English, or both — based on who you want to reach, not habit
  • List 20 episode topics before recording one — if you can’t, narrow the theme
  • Decide who hosts: founder, team member, or rotating guests
  • Commit to a realistic cadence (fortnightly beats weekly-then-quitting)

2. Format and identity

Format decisions shape everything downstream — lock them early.

  • Choose a format: interview, solo, co-hosted, or panel
  • Set target episode length (30–60 minutes works for most business shows)
  • Decide audio-only or video — video costs more but feeds YouTube, LinkedIn, and clips
  • Name the show — check the name is free on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Instagram
  • Write a two-sentence show description a stranger would understand

3. Recording setup

Listeners forgive average video. They never forgive bad audio.

  • Decide: build a home setup or book a studio with an engineer
  • If home: a dynamic microphone per speaker, closed-back headphones (they don’t leak sound back into the mics), and a quiet, soft-furnished room
  • If studio: book a single test hour before committing to a series — check how the room sounds, whether the setup fits your format, and how the engineer works
  • Do a full test recording and listen back on phone speakers and earbuds
  • Plan guest logistics: invites, scheduling, and a one-page briefing for guests

4. Branding assets

These are made once and used for years — do them properly.

  • Cover art: readable at thumbnail size, test it at 64×64 pixels
  • Intro and outro: 10–20 seconds, licensed or royalty-free music only
  • Episode title template (e.g. "Guest name — the one thing they know best")
  • Show notes template: summary, key points, links, and a call to action

5. Distribution setup

One upload should reach every platform automatically.

  • Choose a podcast host (e.g. Spotify for Creators, Buzzsprout, Transistor) — this generates your RSS feed
  • Submit the RSS feed to Apple Podcasts and Spotify before launch day
  • If video: set up the YouTube channel with banner, description, and playlists
  • Add the podcast to your website with player embeds
  • Set up a short link you can say out loud on the show

6. Launch week

Launch with a batch, not a single episode.

  • Record at least 3 episodes before announcing anything
  • Publish 2–3 episodes on day one so new listeners can binge
  • Announce on your personal and company LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook
  • Email your existing clients and contacts — they are your warmest audience
  • Ask the first guests to share their episode with their own audience

7. Promotion in Cyprus

The local advantage: Cyprus is a small market — you can actually reach it.

  • Cut 2–3 vertical clips (30–60s) per episode for Reels, TikTok, and Shorts
  • Invite guests your customers already follow — local founders, experts, personalities
  • Cross-promote with other Cyprus podcasts and business communities
  • Mention the podcast in your email signature, proposals, and networking events
  • Repurpose each episode into a LinkedIn post or blog article

8. Measure and iterate

Review monthly. Double down on what the numbers reward.

  • Track downloads/views per episode after 7 and 30 days
  • Watch completion rate — where do listeners drop off?
  • Note which topics and guests outperform, and book more like them
  • Ask new clients "how did you hear about us?" and log podcast mentions
  • Review the format after 10 episodes: length, cadence, and clips strategy
